Nelsonville Dog Park soft opening and is open to the public, Fri – 8AM until sunset, Sat – sunrise until sunset, Sun – sunrise until sunset

The City of Nelsonville is pleased to announce the Nelsonville Dog Park has started its soft opening and is open to the public. For the soft opening the park will be open,

Fridays – 8:00AM until sunset
Saturdays – sunrise until sunset
Sundays – sunrise until sunset

The Nelsonville Dog Park, located at 1157 Dog Park Lane, has three separate areas for dogs to use, a large dog area, small dog area, and a training area. The park also includes a ¼ mile paved walking path and a shelter house. A downloadable copy of the dog park rules is available at https://tinyurl.com/yz25kh8u.

The dog park’s initial construction was completed during the fall of 2025 but was not opened to let the park grass recover from the construction and grow. The Dog Park Board will fully open the park later in 2026 with a dedication ceremony for the park.

The Nelsonville Dog Park Board is reviewing multiple projects that State grant funds can be spent on. This includes pet waste stations, trash receptacles, dog play and agility equipment, shade areas, security lighting and cameras, and possible renovation of an old building for restrooms.
